For decades, the midsize sedan was the king of the automotive work, but when crossovers started gaining popularity this past decade, it seemed like only a matter of time before automakers would figure out how to splice the two and make something that everybody loves. The upcoming relaunched 2020 BMW X6 is not your ordinary luxury vehicle, but that’s what makes it so fascinating.

From the outside, the vehicle looks considerably sportier than the BMW X5 because it has been designed to imitate a coupe rather than an SUV. In fact, the unofficial segment for the BMW X6 is “Sports Activity Vehicle,” which means it has many of the advantages we have come to expect with crossovers while with the design of a coupe and the four doors of a sedan.

This BMW model’s design is rather impressive, as well, with sleek contours and a kidney grille, which actually lights up at night. It’s wider and slightly lower to the ground than previous incarnations of the BMW X6, and its engine options are likely to be every bit as diverse as BMW fans in Escondido, CA could have hoped. This model will receive four unique engine configurations, with the best of them pushing out 523 horsepower via a 4.4-liter V8 engine in the 2020 BMW X6 M50i.

We expect to see this BMW for sale at BMW of El Cajon later this fall. For now, the release is slated for November, but good things come to those who wait, right? In the meantime, check out our other BMW crossover options. There are so many great vehicles to choose from, you won’t know what to pick.
